What is Heat Exchanger

How Heat Exchanger Work

heat exchanger that makes use of an arrangement of metallic plates to transfer heat between two fluids. This technique of heat exchange is much better compared to that of a conventional heat exchanger. It is so because in this technique the fluids are exposed to a significantly greater area as they get spread over the metal plates.

Cleaning chemicals

Chemicals used in the cleaning of heat exchangers must be compatible with the materials from which the unit is fabricated. Care must also be exercised to avoid damage to gaskets and other seals. Aggressive or caustic agents should never be used for cleaning these units. In most cases, a solvent such as trichloroethylene can be used to clean the internal surfaces of the exchanging plates.

Other chemicals

Chemicals are often required to service plate heat exchangers. The most common of these is chlorine, which can be used to remove scale and other deposits from the plates. There are other chemicals that can be used for this purpose, and each has its own benefits and drawbacks.
